We are seeking an experienced Combat Designer to join our team and bring engaging, responsive, and memorable combat systems to life. You’ll be responsible for designing player abilities, enemy archetypes, and encounters for a AAA FPS project. Working closely with the level design team and other disciplines, you’ll help craft the moment-to-moment gameplay experience that defines our game.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Combat Designer on at least one published AAA console title, preferably FPS.
  • Strong knowledge of AI behaviour, combat mechanics, and encounter design.
  • Proficiency with Unreal Engine 5, including Blueprint scripting.
  • Ability to rapidly prototype and iterate within the engine.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional combat experiences.

Responsibilities

    • Design and implement player abilities, enemy AI behaviours, and combat encounters using Unreal Engine 5.
    • Prototype and iterate on enemy archetypes, attack patterns, and player mechanics to deliver polished gameplay experiences.
    • Collaborate with level designers to integrate combat scenarios seamlessly into game levels.
    • Maintain clear and detailed documentation for all combat systems and mechanics.
    • Playtest and refine systems based on feedback, ensuring balance, responsiveness, and fun.
    • Provide constructive critique during game reviews and contribute creative solutions to challenges.
